A book whose ending I have struggled with since I first read it. I am now reading it a second time and find it easier to enjoy knowing what is coming for Mr. Sawtelle and I see his family's efforts in a completely different light than when I read it the first time. A second read is certainly a good idea for a better grasp of this unique and unexpected story about what life is all about and why we end up doing the things that we end up doing. The purpose is unclear as we do them, but eventually these things and the things we create take on a life of their own and continue long after we are gone.
