This is a beautifully written sad but heartwarming story of a girl (Lily), searching for a Mother's love during change in the 1960's. Sue Monk Kidd writes so vividly that I could see clearly all the scenes unfolding on the pages - the house, the Boatwright sisters, the bees, the wall, the river, everything!! Lily's escape from a horrendously uncaring father and her ensuing journey to find love takes her to a place of truth. I would have loved to have been able to experience the Boatwright sister's for myself!! This is a must book for all women!! The Secret Life of Bees is another of my all-time favourites.
