This novel is filled with ambiguity. Steve Harmon is on trial for murder because supposedly he was a look out for a drugstore robbery that ended in the cashier being murdered. In order to distance himself from the trial, he turns it into his own screen play. The trial story is interspersed with his journal writings from when he serves his time. The questions are never resolved, some people stand up for Steve and say he was such a good kid that he could do no harm, but witnesses say that he was involved with the robbery and murder. It is up to the reader to decide who is the monster. I would recommend this book to teenagers ages 13 and up.
