Second book this summer that was set in Indonesia. The first half is very good and quite compelling, but when we switch to the male protagonist's point of view his incessant recounting of how great he is gets a bit tiresome. Everything good happens to him and very little that is bad. Anna's story on the other hand is more reminiscent of Courtenay's great work on The Power of One. Very strong.
