I'm a huge Jane Austen fan, and this is probably my favorite of her books. I do remember finding it rather slow-moving in the beginning, and taking some time to get used to the language, but at about the mid-way point it suddenly became a page-turner, and I read the rest all in one sitting. Austen is so great at creating memorable characters, and there is an abundance of them in this book. Whatever else has changed in the past 200 years, people's natures, it seems, are ultimately the same. I think this is what makes her works so enjoyable for me. She also has a really fantastic, but sometimes subtle, sense of humor, which is is easy to miss if you don't know it's there.
